ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2ND JAPANESE SONG CONTEST FOR PUPILS AND STUDENTS AND COMPETITION RULES

1. Introduction

The 2nd Japanese Song Contest for Pupils and Students (2 学生向け日本語歌唱コンテスト) is jointly organized by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Culture, Language and Education Fostering (CLEF), the VNU University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS–VNU), and the VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU–VNU). The competition is supported by numerous universities, research institutes, and educational institutions in Vietnam and is partially sponsored by The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam.
The competition aims to foster Vietnamese pupils' and students' appreciation of the Japanese language and culture, particularly Japanese music, thereby promoting Japanese language learning through music and other art forms. It also provides a valuable opportunity for young people to showcase their artistic talents while enhancing mutual understanding between Vietnam and Japan and contributing to the friendship between the two countries.
The competition consists of two rounds. Contestants who pass the Preliminary Round will perform at the Final Round and Award Ceremony on October 24, 2026.

2. Eligibility

The competition is open to pupils and students who are studying Japanese or are interested in the Japanese language, culture, and music.

3. Submission Period and Award Ceremony

- Submission period: From July 20, 2026 to September 20, 2026
- Final Round performance and Award Ceremony: October 24, 2026

4. Entry Requirements

- Contestants must submit a video performance of one (01) Japanese song of their own choice to the Organizing Committee
- Submitted videos must have clear audio and video quality
- Each individual contestant or group of contestants may submit only one entry (solo, duet, or group performance). Prizes will be awarded only to the performer(s)
- Contestants are responsible for preparing their own accompaniment music
- By participating in the competition, contestants agree that the Organizing Committee may use their images, audio recordings, and videos for promotional and communication purposes

5. Awards

- One First Prize: Valued at VND 5,000,000, including cash and gifts
- Two Second Prizes: Each valued at VND 3,000,000, including cash and gifts
- Three Third Prizes: Each valued at VND 2,000,000, including cash and gifts
- Nine Consolation Prizes: Each valued at VND 500,000, including cash and gifts
- One Audience Favorite Award: Valued at VND 3,000,000, including cash and gifts
All prize winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement issued by the Organizing Committee, together with gifts from the organizing institutions
Nui Truc Japanese Language Center – Sugi Ryotaro will award Japanese language course vouchers to the winners of the First and Second Prizes

6. Evaluation Process and Judging Criteria

The competition consists of two rounds:
- Preliminary Round: The 15 best performances will be selected to advance to the Final Round
- Final Round: Finalists will perform live on stage, where the judging panel will evaluate the performances and determine the prize winners
For the Audience Favorite Award, the winner will be determined based on the total number of likes, comments, and shares on the official voting platforms from October 6, 2026 to 11:59 p.m. on October 20, 2026, according to the following scoring system:
- 1 Like = 1 point
- 1 Comment = 2 points
- 1 Share = 3 points

All competition entries will be evaluated objectively and fairly by a panel of experts in music, culture, and language based on the following criteria:
- Vocal quality and vocal technique
- Japanese pronunciation
- Stage performance skills
- Originality and creativity

7. Submission Guidelines

Contestants should submit their competition videos to the Organizing Committee via info@clef.vn no later than 11:59 p.m. on September 20, 2026
Submission requirements:
- Video format: MP4
- Video title: Full Name – Song Title
- The email should include the following information: Full Name – School – Class – Song Title – Phone Number – Email Address
