Collection of "12 Vietnamese and Japanese folk songs"

The collection aimed to serve the 2023 Vietnam - Japan Folk Song Festival co-organized by the CLEF and the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Association (VIJACA) on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

As an event under the framework of CLEF Arts and Culture Space, the 2023 Vietnam - Japan Folk Song Festival was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Association in under Japan Foundation, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, VNU Vietnam - Japan University, and Vietnamese Alumni Club in Japan.
The festival aimed to introduce Vietnamese folk songs to Japanese people and Japanese folk songs to Vietnamese people, and promote language and culture exchange between the people of the two countries.
This collection features 6 Vietnamese and 6 Japanese folk songs translated into Japanese and Vietnamese respectively. Those songs were performed in both Japanese and Vietnamese languages at the Festival.
CLEF would like to express deep gratitude to Mr. Ngô Tự Lập for his unwavering dedication to the collection. The organization also extends appreciation to the translators, Shine Toshihiko and Ngô Tự Lập, who completed the challenging task of translating the lyrics in a short timeframe. Additionally, CLEF is grateful to musician Võ Cường for generously allowing them to use the unique folk songs of the M'Nong ethnic group that he had previously collected and recorded. Finally, the organization extends sincere thanks to the Acecook Vietnam Company for their generous sponsorship of the translation.

Book recommendation: " A Guide to Japanese Idioms and Idiomatic Expressions"

In the context of the increasing need of teaching, learning and using Japanese in Vietnam, on the first days of March 2022, CLEF Institude and two authors, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy and Aikawa Haruki were delighted to release the book “Training Japanese- Vietnamese translation skills” published by Vietnam National University Press of Hanoi.
